Just The 3 Of Us

Fernando Tordo, Carlos Mendes and Paulo de Carvalho , under the direction of Pedro Osório , prepared a series of four shows to be presented at Casino do Estoril . The show featured a mix of fifty old hits, more recent themes and some new songs. The show was recorded on a double album that, in 1990, reached platinum status.

It had huge commercial success and toured the country and Europe on tour . They also accompanied President Mário Soares on his trips to the East, including Macau, China, Thailand and India.

The 90s

In 1991, François Rauber again participated. In 1993, he created, wrote and presented the program “Falas tu ou falo eu” on portuguese channel SIC. The following year, he recorded the CD Só Fica o Amor Por Ti , at the famous Abbey Road studios (London). In 1995, he released the album Lisboa de Feira , also recorded in London. Between May and June 1997, he recorded, in Barcelona, ​​the album Peninsular with the direction and arrangements of the pianist Josep Mas “Kitflus”.

Produces and presents for 27 consecutive days, at the National Theater D. Maria II , the show “O calendar”. The Calendar disc is distributed with Diário de Notícias . Each month of the calendar is accompanied by paintings by José Manuel Castanheira . This CD, sold with Diário de Notícias, is still the best-selling CD in Portugal in a single day.

He won the Casa da Imprensa Prize in 1997.

In 1999 he presented the program “Clube Tordo” on CNL . He travels to Timor-Leste in November 1999 with Jorge Palma and Rui Pinto de Almeida . This partnership resulted in a documentary series of three episodes, entitled “Timor-Leste, a Paz e a Língua Portuguesa”. It was shown on CNL and later on RTPi.

2000’s

At the invitation of Instituto Camões , the artist presented this work in Timor, in 2002, accompanied by maestro João Balula Cid and his musicians. The musician Jorge Palma also accompanies him on this trip.

In March 2002, E No Entanto Ela Move-se was published , recorded in Barcelona, ​​which includes themes dedicated to the films “Cinema Paraiso” and “O postman by Pablo Neruda” and also tributes to George Harrison (“I need you”) and to the people of Timor-Leste (“The Timorese”). The disc was distributed by Universal publisher. The lyrics almost all date from the year 2000 (with the exception of “O Timorense”, written in Timor in December 1999). The songs were all composed in 2001, between January and November.

His book “Fantásticas, Fingidas e Mentirosas”, whose title is taken from a stanza of Os Lusíadas , is published in November 2003. His first novel was published by the publisher Sporpress.

“Tributo a los laureados Nobel”, an album in which some of the poems of the writers awarded the highest awards in the arts and sciences are set to music, was published in 2006 by Factoria Autor.

In 2008, he released the book “If you don’t know Copia”. In the same year he was Commissioner against Violence in Dating and organized the show for that purpose at the Tivoli Theater with the participation of Deolinda , Susana Félix and Amor Electro .

Between 2008 and 2010, he toured large cities with the Stardust Orchestra (24 musicians) conducted by conductor Pedro Duarte. This tour culminated in a show at Coliseu dos Recreios with guest appearances by Carminho , Rui Veloso and Gato Fedorento.

Years 2010

Fernando Tordo manages the company Stardust Produções, which since 2008, the year it was created, received more than 200 thousand euros by direct agreement for the production of shows by the state. Among the contracting entities are several municipal councils, such as Portimão , Montijo , Mangualde , Vila Nova de Cerveira , Covilhã , Ponte de Lima , Abrantes , Matosinhos , Almada and Lamego , which contracted productions from Stardust with a value of more than 159,600 euros.

In 2013, he performed a series of intimate shows with other singers such as Sara Tavares , Tiago Bettencourt , António Zambujo , Amor Electro , Deolinda , Luísa Sobral , among others.

In 2014, he announced his intention to emigrate.

On February 18, 2014, he left for Pernambuco , Brazil. At 65, the musician emigrates in search of work and is disenchanted with the country. Before leaving, he said ” It is very likely that I will enjoy these last years of my life, because I don’t want to consume them here. I don’t want to, I don’t accept these people, I don’t accept what they are doing to my country. I’m about to be ruled by this bunch of incompetents. I’m going to retire from this country. I don’t feel like staying here at all. I think I still have a lot to do .”

On February 21, 2014, it was announced that the company Stardust Produções, managed by Fernando Tordo to organize his concerts, received between 2008, the year in which it was created, and the beginning of 2014, more than 200 thousand euros from the state through adjustment contracts, and in January 2014 he received two contracts from the Associação Cultura e Knowledge para a Género Equality, one worth 4500 euros and the other 5500 euros, for the performance of shows.

The disclosure of the contracts led Fernando Tordo’s wife, Eugénia Passada, to issue a statement claiming that her husband ” needed work “, stressing that the value that the company Stardust Produções would not be exaggerated.

It was also announced that the Culture and Knowledge Association for Gender Equality, which hired Fernando Tordo’s company to perform shows, has as founding partners Fernando Tordo and his wife, Eugénia Passada, and that the non-governmental association received in In recent years more than 200 thousand euros of state support for the management of its projects.

Participates, in May 2014, in Programa do Jô accompanying the Brazilian singer Fafá de Belém.

In 2016, he released his first work made in Brazil, “Outro Canto”. The CD was awarded the Pedro Osório Prize, as the best Portuguese music CD of 2016.

In 2018, he returned to Portugal, and revealed that he struggled with alcoholism throughout his life, attending Alcoholics Anonymous.

In January 2022, he stated that “90% of the Portuguese music that we currently listen to has no dignity. It is for the mentally retarded. With rare and very honorable exceptions, what we have, for the most part, is people who don’t grow up because they don’t listen, because they don’t learn. They have to learn. My generation learned”. Carolina Deslandes , Agir , Miguel Cristovinho , from DAMA , Luísa Sobral and Diogo Piçarra were some of the artists who regretted Fernando Tordo’s statements. The musician later apologized for the “bad timing”.

Distinctions and Awards

On October 17, 2003, he was made Commander of the Order of Merit.
