A Junção (The Junction)
A Junção was a Portuguese pop rock band, formed in Oeiras in 1987. They had a short-lived stint with only one relatively successful record release.
Formed in mid-1987 by a group of friends, they started calling themselves ‘A Junção do Bem’ and focused on an innovative pop rock project. In 1988, they won the modern music competition on Rádio 98FM, in Amadora, whose prize consisted of recording an album. They then shortened the name to ‘A Junção’ and signed a contract with the competition’s sponsoring record company, Musicata. In 1989, they released the eponymous album. It was a commercially successful work, but surrounded by controversy as the award of the silver disc was not clear. They also benefited from some media exposure, notably through the weekly Blitz, which provided several concerts across the country.
However, with the heavy heritage of Portuguese rock in the early eighties, its affirmation on the music scene was not easy. The post-boom of rock was going on and the crisis in the recording industry was taking place, causing the disappearance of countless bands as well as the bankruptcy of some record companies. They were unable to last and ended their career at the end of 1989.

I don’t think this band is that old.
Writing about music like penning a beautiful poem
You have the ability to lift spirits and soothe hearts with just a song
Even though they’ve been around since 1988, this band still makes me crazy.
