Bramassaji

The band Bramassaji was formed in 1984 by Carlos Vieira (guitar), Pedro Gonçalves (guitar), Armando Coelho (bass), and Fernando Guedes (drums). The following year, Espírito Santo joined the group as vocalist, and they quickly won first place in the 1st New Rock Music Contest, held at the Infante Sagres Pavilion in Porto, in November 1985.

In 1987, the band released the EP “Princípios” on the Dansa do Som label, which included the tracks “Pescador”, “O Mar”, and “Mar de Sede”. However, after the EP’s release, Espírito Santo left the band, and Carlos Vieira took over as vocalist and guitarist.

In April 1990, the band released a new EP, “Dança Na Arena”, on self-release, which included the tracks “Miúra”, “Caminho de Luz”, and “Insónia”. At this time, Alberto Almeida joined the band as keyboardist.

In 1991, the album “Um Outro Olhar” was released on the MC – Mundo da Canção label. However, the band’s lineup underwent some changes, with Pedro Gonçalves and Alberto Almeida leaving and guitarist Luís Leite joining.

In 1995, the band, now known as Bramma, released the CD “Mais Perto”, which included a new version of the track “Pescador”. The band’s lineup at this time consisted of Carlos Vieira (vocals), Jorge Lima (guitar), Luís Marques (guitar), Mário Cunha (drums), and Vítor Lima (bass).

At the end of 1996, the band decided to cease activities, marking the end of an era in Portuguese rock music.
