Ecos Da Cave

Santo Tirso group formed in 1987. The group’s members were Carlos Lima (guitar and harmonica), Armindo (bass), Francisco (guitar), José Augusto Costa (drums) and Alfredo (vocals).

In 1988 they competed in the 5th RRV Contest where they reached the semi-finals. The song “Desejo” appears on the compilation “Registros” which includes the eight highest ranked bands.

Alfredo left the group in September 1989. Chico Zé (guitar), Armando Lima (bass), Carlos Lima (guitar, keys, harmonica, vocals), Zé Costa (drums, percussion) and Rafael (vocals) recorded their debut album between February and July 1991 at Pinguim studios.

The LP “The Poppies of the Sterile Field” was released in October 1991 by El Tatu. In 1992 they participated in the first edition of Noites Ritual Rock. They present some compositions in English and a version of a song by José Afonso.

In 1993 they headlined the first edition of the Paredes de Coura Festival. In 1994, Ecos da Cave recorded at Estúdios Avé Mania, produced by Carlos Lima. The album with the provisional title of “O Silêncio Extremo do Aborígena” would include songs such as “Com o Álcool”, “Vejam Bem” (versão de José Afonso), “Drop Down Dead”, “Grande Lua”, “Corre Como Um Cão”, “Nova Guerra”, “Visão Utópica”, “Parte P’ra Vida”, “Velhote”, “Defeitos Humanos” e “Nada”. But it was never edited.

The group would end its activities in 1995.
