Midus was born in Lisbon but soon moved to Moita do Ribatejo, where he began his career as a bassist and vocalist in several local bands.

Later, he formed Rock & Várius, a band from Almada. Through the label Rádio Triunfo, they released the album Pronto a Curtir and the single Totobola. Unsatisfied with the promotion, they switched to Valentim de Carvalho. The album Roquivários was released, from which the single Cristina (Beleza é Fundamental) was taken.

Recognised for their live success, the group lasted a few years, but internal conflicts eventually led to their breakup.

Midus then signed a solo contract with Polygram. The single Lá Longe/Ai e was released, featuring songs written by him and Fernando António dos Santos (formerly of Beatnicks and Da Vinci).

At the label’s invitation, he travelled to London to record with Portuguese producer Luís Jardim. With Banda Amazónia—composed of young musicians of various nationalities including Greek, Italian, Scottish, Dutch, and English—he took part in the National Music Prize, held in Figueira da Foz, with the song Amazónia, co-written with Luís Jardim.

He eventually relocated permanently to London. There, he joined the band Coming Roses, which in 1992 recorded the album I Said Ballroom for Billy Bragg’s label, Utility Records. The following year, he began touring with Anne Clark, with whom he would play for the next six years, including the concert she gave at Aula Magna. He also performed with artists such as Kym Marsh, Melanie C, Tanita Tikaram, Hugh Cornwell, Jay Smith, Cathy Dennis, Suggs, Billie Myers, and others.

His song Num Terraço (co-written with Ana Zanatti) was included in one of the compilations by Promúsica magazine.

He later formed Candy Store, alongside the backing vocalist and drummer from Saint Etienne and the guitarist who played with Tanita Tikaram.

Apparently, Midus still resides in London, continuing her work as a session player and writer. The artist constantly expands her repertoire in both Portuguese and English.

She also stated, “I have a lot of material written and I’d love to record for a Portuguese label. But for that to happen, I need to feel strong support again.”
