What is MEO Marés Vivas?
MEO Marés Vivas is a music festival held in Vila Nova de Gaia, in the north of Portugal, annually in July.
It had its first edition in 1999 and in 2010 its eighth edition was held, featuring bands such as Placebo, Morcheeba and Ben Harper. In 2011, the ninth edition featured names such as Manu Chao, Skunk Anansie, Moby, The Cranberries, Aurea and Mika. In 2013, the eleventh edition is called MEO Marés Vivas, with the naming sponsor of MEO and takes place on the 18th, 19th and 20th of July. In 2016, the festival featured Elthon John, Tom Odell, Kodaline, Dengaz, Lost Frenquencies, Rui Veloso, James Bay, Kelis and D.A.M.A. on the 14th, 15th and 16th of July.
The 15th edition of the festival took place in 2023, and featured the first day exclusively dedicated to national artists and bands, with the band Da Weasel as the main attraction, with sold out tickets. Other bands that performed in that edition of the festival were The Script, Os Quatro e Meia, Jorge Palma, Black Eyed Peas and J Balvin.
