“Noutra Vida” (In Another Life) is a song about the longing to watch someone from afar, to memorize their footsteps, and the realization that the door is locked.
Filipa Ferreira writes about unrequited love without bitterness: there is acceptance, there is karma, and there is “but for now” that holds everything in suspense.
It is not a final goodbye. It is a song that lingers there, suspended between what was and what might perhaps be—in another life.
“I wrote this song when I realized I needed to choose myself, even though I still felt a sense of longing. It’s about accepting that something was beautiful, but that it no longer serves me. It is my way of setting myself free.”
Musically, “Noutra Vida” sits at the intersection of contemporary pop and the soul of Fado — the melancholy, the restrained saudade, and the poetry of someone who writes what they cannot bring themselves to say.
Sung in Portuguese, it carries the language as a fundamental part of its sonic identity, rather than just a vehicle for the lyrics.
Written by Filipa Ferreira, this debut as a songwriter reveals an original voice that is unique, singular, and emotionally mature.
The song
“Noutra Vida” is a song about a desire that slips through one’s fingers — about seeing someone from afar and being unable to touch them, about a locked door that certainty bolts from the outside. Filipa Ferreira writes about the karma of unrequited love with a rare honesty: there is no bitterness, only acceptance. The chorus says “but for now” — and this “but for now” is the heart of the song. It is not a goodbye; it is a suspension. The production balances the melancholy and poetry of fado with a contemporary pop language, creating an intimate sonic universe that transports the soul of fado into the present without betraying it.
Who is Filipa Ferreira?
Filipa Ferreira is a Portuguese singer and artist who merges the emotional intensity of fado with a contemporary alternative pop language, creating an intimate and personal style.
The general public first discovered her in 2014, when she won 2nd place on The Voice Kids Portugal with a performance that surpassed 13 million views on YouTube—a decisive moment that marked her artistic journey. That same year, she was invited by Sara Tavares to perform a solo at her 20th-anniversary career concert at the São Luiz Theatre, performing the song “Chamar a Música.”
Since then, the artist has built a versatile career spanning music and theatre. She has been part of major opera productions such as Bizet’s Carmen and Puccini’s Turandot at the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, and performed in Filipe Lá Féria’s musical Amália at the Teatro Politeama, playing the role of young Amália.

Recently, her passion for fado has grown in a natural and profound way, increasingly influencing her style of singing and interpretation. She has been a regular presence at some of Lisbon’s most iconic fado houses—Mesa de Frades, Tasca do Chico, and Fama d’Alfama—and has been part of the Festfado circuit in several cities across the country. In 2025, she performed at the Caixa Alfama Festival and was invited to participate in the RTP program Em Casa d’Amália.
Currently, Filipa is preparing the release of her first original single, marking the beginning of a new artistic phase. Her music blends raw emotion, melancholy, and poetry with a modern pop aesthetic, subtly bringing the spirit of fado into a contemporary, intimate, and original sonic universe. Her voice and songwriting are born from vulnerability and truth. Her artistic references include Milhanas (her greatest inspiration), MARO, Dulce Pontes, and Carolina Deslandes—a spectrum that ranges from the roots of fado to international pop sophistication.
