Acoolémia

This album has several collaborations, namely, Diego Gil (ex-Flood) who sings in Castilian in a duet with Jorge Miranda on the theme “Quero Protestar”; Nuno Flores on violin; Custodio Castelo on the Portuguese guitar; Jorge Gonçalves on violin; Pedro Gonçalves on cello; Joaquim Santos on flute; Castora (ex-Delfins) on percussion and Catarina Pereira on choirs.

The band recorded the music video for the song “Quero Protestar”.

The quick acceptance of the recent album led Antena 1 to invite the band to present it in their auditorium on a live broadcast.

The music video for the single “Quero Protestar” was presented on the Made In Portugal program and was airplayed for several weeks on Canal Sol Música, including a special report in October 1998.

The album “Até Onde” was officially presented on the south bank of the Tagus on 13 November at Freiras Bar na Moita, with Diego Gil and Nuno Flores as special guests.

In 1999 Alcoolémia participated in the 2nd Anniversary party of the Jornal Inside at Gartejo in Lisbon.
They participate in the Jornal Raio-X awards ceremony at the Lisbon Forum, a ceremony later broadcast on Canal Sol Música.
They also participate in ExpoMusica at Exponor in Porto.
The acoustic show at the Centro Cultural de Belem – Lisbon is highlighted.
Alcoolémia recorded the videoclip for the single “Até Onde Posso Ir”, one of the best songs of this album (a beautiful ballad), with an acoustic texture enhanced by the husky voice of Jorge Miranda with the participation of Nuno Flores on the violin.

At the end of 1999 Carlos Botelho leaves and Pedro Madeira takes his place, bringing new breath to the band with his creativity.

At the beginning of the year 2000 the band returned to shows all over the country.
The highlight was the participation in the Amor por Moçambique show at the Pavilhão Atlântico in Lisbon.

In 2001, Alcoolémia began to be managed by Estrada & Varios, based in Olaias.

The tour for the album “Até onde” lasted until the end of 2002, and the band performed more than 200 shows touring the country from North to South and Islands.

Alcoolémia started the process of composing the 4th album, simultaneously with live performances all over the country.

In August 2002, the 10th anniversary was celebrated with a show framed in the City of Amora Festivities, which served as the start of the “10 years” tour, with several shows all over the country.

In 2003 Alcoolémia began to be managed by Terra da Música based in Lisbon.

The theme “Quero Protestar” is included in the collection “Rua do Carmo” by the publisher Movieplay in 2004.
Also in 2004, the theme “Portugal o Nosso País” was included in the collection “Homem do Leme” by the publisher Movieplay.
In April 2004, the “4 Cidades 100 artists 40 hours of music” participated in the “100% Portuguese Music” with Paulo Gonzo, João Pedro Pais, Radio Macau, Jorge Palma, Toranja, Despe & Siga, among others…

The band returns to shows all over the country.

In 2004 the theme “Não Sei Se Mereço” is included in the collection “Não Sei Se Mereço” by the publisher Movieplay.

In 2005, the pre-production of the 4th album began with technician João Miranda at RockStudio in Feijó.
In March 2005, the band’s official myspace was created, which currently has over 800,000 visits.

During 2005 the band terminated their contract with their usual publisher Movieplay.
In early 2006 Alcoolémia returned to shows where they already included some of the new songs from the future 4th album.

That same year, Alcoolémia were again managed by Alien Produções, based in Fafe.

Between January and May 2007, Alcoolémia recorded their 4th album at RockStudio in Feijó, produced by João Miranda, with a mix of the duo Pedro Madeira and Tó Pinheiro da Silva -sound engineer- (known for his work with Madredeus, Dulce Pontes , among many others) and mastered in the USA by the renowned Joe Gastwirt, known for his work with the Ramones, Talking Heads, YES, Jimi Hendrix, The Grateful Dead, Paul McCartney, Pearl Jam among many others.

The 4th album is called “Alcoolémia” and was launched on the market in late 2007, with 9 original songs and a version of Taxi’s “Chiclete”.

In this album, on the one hand, the rock that characterizes the group stands out in the themes “How long have I been here” and “It’s already time…this city to wake up” on the other hand, the rock ballad chosen for the 1st single “I’m waiting..(quero see the end) and finally the love song “Sand of salty stones”.

Now with a totally different atmosphere combining hip-hop, funky and rock in the themes “A musica nacional (we will take it out of the shadow)” and “Always the same” which include a new sound in the band scratch by the hands of Dj X-Act.
Participating in the recording of this album are Davide Zaccaria on cello, Dj X-Acto on scratch, Carlos Sousa on tenor saxophone, Helder Lopes on trumpet, Paulo Horta on alto saxophone, and Bruno Encarnação on trombone.

In September 2007 Alcoolémia participated in Musicalia at FIL at Expo.
In October 2007 Alcoolémia signed a licensing contract for their 4th album with the publisher Espacial.
The album presentation party was held at Hard Rock in Lisbon on December 3rd.

In 2008, Alcoolémia started to be managed by Spot, ex-Reunião, based in Lisbon.
The 1st edition of the 4th album sold out.
The band recorded the videoclip of the single “Fico à espera…quero ver o fim” which was made available on youtube and currently has more than 45,000 views.
The themes “How long have I been here” and “Sand of salted stones” were part of the youth telenovela “Rebelde Way” broadcast on the national channel SIC.

Also in 2008 the album was offered for sale online, at MusicaOnline, Qmusica, Jo-Jo..s Music, among other sites.
Also in that year, the Alcoholemia channel was created on Youtube, which has more than 250,000 views among the band’s various videos.
The 4th album “Alcoolémia” sells out the 2nd edition.

The 2nd single “I wanted to steal a kiss” was re-recorded with the new singer João Beato, who joined Alcoolémia in early 2009.
During 2009, it is worth noting the various shows held all over the country, and the two performances in Campo Pequeno, in June in the 1st part of Russ Ballard, and in November in the 1st part of D.A.D and GUN.

In August 2010, Alcoolémia gave up keyboards, having 5 members.
Highlight for the band’s participation in the Music Festival by Espichel.

In 2011, Ivo Martins joined the drums.
Alcoolémia re-record the anthem of Radio Super FM.
The theme “Until the world ends” is included in the soundtrack of the film “Até onde” directed by Carlos Barros.
