Damas Rock

In 1981 many doors opened and the explosion of new bands allowed Portugal to meet many musicians. Damas Rock, (the first female group in Portuguese rock with Paula Cristina, Fifi, Anabela and Mitó).

They had then recorded a single and its promotion took them to the well-known Júlio Isidro program, “A Febre de Sábado de Manhã”. First in a small presentation at the Nimas cinema, in Lisbon, and later in the live program, broadcast via radio, which took place in Tróia. In this show, names such as Salada de Frutas, Cocktail, Pizo Lizo and the former Yes keyboardist, Rick Wakeman, who came to promote his album “1984”.

Following the presentation of their debut single, “Em Cinco Minutos”[Sabotagem], the band was invited to participate in some events. Of these actions, the Abrantes and Alverca exhibitions stand out, this one again with the names of Portuguese bands that, at the time, stood out. The NZZN were a good example of this.

They released another single (with lyrics by Fifi and songs by CTT). None of them remained linked to music after the Damas Rock adventure.
