Ana Sofia Lopes Malhoa was born in Lisbon, August 6, 1979, known as Ana Malhoa, is a Portuguese singer, songwriter, presenter, producer and businesswoman. Daughter of popular singer José Malhoa, she began her musical career in 1985, alongside her father.

1985-1993: Early years and success with father

Since the age of 4, she has expressed the desire to be a singer. In 1985, aged just 5, Ana Malhoa took to the stage for the first time with her father, the popular singer José Malhoa, during the tour of the album, Thank You Love, Thank You. In 1986, they released their first EP together, Pai Amigo, which received a gold record and sold over 33,000 copies.

With Nada Me Pára (2007), she returns to the charts. The album was promoted with the single of the same name. She followed Exótica, in 2008. In 2009, she released Sexy, her first solo album to receive the platinum award and reach the top of the list of best-selling albums by Associação Fonográfica Portuguesa.

Simultaneously, she is on the cover of one of the editions of Playboy Portugal magazine. This was one of the best-selling editions of the magazine’s trajectory and Ana received a cachet of 50 thousand euros for her work, the highest in the publication. She promotes the same on her Pop City Music Live Tour and, after this period, moves to the United States for a few months.

In April 2011, back in Portugal, she launched Caliente. The disc is reissued in October of the same year. The album reaches first position on the list of best-selling albums by Associação Fonográfica Portuguesa and Ana receives another platinum award. It was considered the most successful national album of the summer of 2011, with four themes among the most played on Portuguese radio.

The album Azucar (2013) was designed to officially introduce Ana Malhoa to the Hispanic market. The disc went directly to the top of the list of best-selling albums in Portugal and received the double platinum award. The promotion of the album, through the Azucar Tour, began on June 1, 2012, being Ana Malhoa’s most extensive tour to date, with more than 150 concerts in 20 countries. The single “Sube La Temperature” led the list of the most performed songs on Portuguese radio for 17 weeks, being considered the most successful song of Ana Malhoa’s solo career and the most performed song in Portugal in 2013, reaching the European Hot 100. The success of the song in Portugal was boosted by its inclusion in the soundtrack of television fiction Destinos Cruzados, by TVI. Ana also acted in two episodes of the telenovela.

In 2014, he released “Tá Turbinada”, which topped the list of the most played songs on Portuguese radio stations for twelve weeks, being the most played song in Portugal in 2014. “Encaixa Baby Encaixa” (2015) was the most played song in Portugal in 2015, holding the lead for eight straight weeks. For three consecutive years (2013, 2014 and 2015), Ana Malhoa was the interpreter of the “most performed song of the year” in Portugal. The controversial video for “Encaixa Baby Encaixa” reached the milestone of one million views in two weeks. Both “Tá Turbinada” and “Encaixa Baby Encaixa” were included on the Superlatina album, which was certified gold by the Associação Fonográfica Portuguesa.

In 2016, she released the album “Futura”. At the end of the following year she released the single “Ampulheta” and in April 2018 released “Viúva Negra”. Both songs present a new sound in Ana’s career, more inspired by trap. In December 2018, she released the single “Ele Mexe”, which features a dancehall sound. Video clips for the three singles were also released. In May 2019, Ana Malhoa once again surprised her fans with the release of an EP that featured six new songs. The themes “Sobe Desce” and “Ana” feature video clips inspired by girl power and equality.

She is the most requested female pop artist to perform in Portugal, with more than 635,000 copies sold over her 30-year career. She is also one of the record sales record holders in Portugal.
