André Indiana
Born in Porto, André Indiana is a vocalist, writer, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist, having gained public exposure in the Portuguese music industry in 2001.
With Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix or Lenny Kravitz as references, André discovered his artistic streak at an early age, following in his family’s footsteps, learning to play the guitar, piano and drums with natural skill. After writing and singing dozens of songs, always receiving positive feedback from family and friends, it was only in 1999 that André Indiana began to gain attention, largely due to his sister Sara. It was the push that André needed to start playing live in 2000.
He created his own style, with a rock attitude and began to attract the attention of publishers and promoters. From there to participating in the collection “Optimus 2001” was a step. His quality caught the attention of North American officials, who did not hesitate to invite him to share the same stage as Robert Plant, Alanis Morrissete and Henri Butler. The musician also participated in the North American “Singer-Songwriter of the Year 2002” competition, promoted by BillBoard.
The Summer, Sudoeste and Vilar de Mouros Festivals (between 2001 and 2002) were the other definitive steps to project André Indiana. It was time to record his first album as an individual and, as a multifaceted artist, he would be the one to do the production work on the record. The result was titled “Music For Nations” and was recorded in just eight days in the studio of renowned producer Mário Barreiros.
Critics didn’t hesitate and classified the album as a festive demonstration of rock, inspired by the North American style and with a promising career ahead. In 2006 André Indiana returned with his second album, “Distilled & Bottled”, with influences taken from the sounds of 70s American rock.
A trully festive demonstration of rock, yes!
