Júlio Pereira (Moscavide, December 22, 1953), his full name Júlio Fernando de Jesus Pereira, is a Portuguese musician, composer, multi-instrumentalist and producer.
His music is characterized by the use of traditional Portuguese instruments, such as the cavaquinho and the viola braguesa. Despite having started his career as a rock musician, later in the groups Petrus Castrus and Xarhanga, he began to dedicate himself to traditional Portuguese music.
His collaboration with other musicians such as The Chieftains, Pete Seeger, José Afonso, Kepa Junkera, Carlos do Carmo, Chico Buarque or Sara Tavares stands out.
Júlio Pereira has 20 original albums and has participated in dozens of albums by other artists.
In 2013, he was one of the founders of the Cavaquinho Museum Cultural Association with the aim of promoting the practice of the cavaquinho and documenting and preserving the history of this musical instrument.
