The Portuguese band NAPA, formerly known as Men On The Couch, was formed in Madeira in 2013 and is known for its indie pop and indie rock style. Composed of Francisco Sousa (guitar), João Guilherme Gomes (vocals and guitar), João Rodrigues (drums), Diogo Góis (bass), and João Lourenço Gomes (piano), the band achieved a significant milestone by winning the 2025 RTP Song Festival with the song “Deslocado”.

With this victory, NAPA represented Portugal at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest, held in Basel, Switzerland.

The NAPA Journey

Formed in 2013 on the island of Madeira as Men On The Couch, the NAPA band began their musical journey with influences from Red Hot Chili Peppers and The Beatles, initially composing in English. In 2019, still under the previous name, they released their debut album “Senso Comum”, funded by a crowdfunding campaign that raised €3,528 without label support.

Musical Evolution

In 2023, the band released their second album, “Logo Se Vê”, which featured special guest appearances, including a string quartet, brass trio, choir, and percussion section, as well as vocal collaborations with Beatriz Pessoa and Silly. The album was a success and solidified the band’s position in the Portuguese music scene.

Tour and Success

In 2024, NAPA embarked on their first national tour, selling out several venues across the country. To wrap up the year, they released the concert film “O Mundo Continua a Girar”, recorded in a “Big Band” format at the Teatro Maria Matos.

In 2025, they were winners of the 2025 RTP Song Festival with the song “Deslocado”, which is part of the contest’s second semifinal. The song is an ode to the band’s Madeiran origins, reflecting the experience of its members living “displaced” in mainland Portugal.
