Palma’s Gang – A Tribute to Jorge Palma and Friends
In 1993, the talented Jorge Palma decided to gather some of his colleagues and great friends for an unforgettable night of music and sharing. The chosen venue was Johnny Guitar, where Palma and his special guests took to the stage to perform some of the most iconic songs from Palma’s repertoire.
The night was so memorable that Polygram decided to release a live album, recorded during the concert, which captured the energy and magical atmosphere that surrounded the presence on stage of such artists. The album, released by Polygram, featured electric interpretations of some of Palma’s historic songs, including a thrilling cover of the classic “Walk On the Wild Side” by Lou Reed.
The project’s lineup included Jorge Palma (guitar and vocals), Flak (guitar, Rádio Macau), Zé Pedro (guitar, Xutos & Pontapés), Alex (bass, Rádio Macau), and Kalu (drums, Xutos & Pontapés). Although it’s difficult to determine the exact longevity of the project, there are records of live performances until the end of 2000, likely in the form of gatherings between friends.
This musical project was a unique moment in the careers of Jorge Palma and his stage companions, leaving a lasting legacy in Portuguese music. The combination of talents and chemistry between the musicians resulted in an unforgettable album that is still fondly remembered today by music fans in Portugal.
