3Angle
An Eclectic Music Trio from Porto
Formed in 2001, the trio 3Angle emerged as an innovative music project, bringing together Rodolfo Cardoso (guitars, bass, programming, ex-WC Noise), Fernando Rodrigues (programming, vocals, ex-WC Noise), and Carla Oliveira (vocals, lyrics). The name “3Angle” reflected the union of three individuals with diverse musical influences, resulting in three distinct perspectives.
The collective’s concept centered on creating songs with lyrics in English and Portuguese, wrapped in prominent electronics. The music of 3Angle was characterized by an eclectic mix of styles, including pop, jazz, soul, trip-hop, trance, rock, R&B, drum and bass, and downtempo. References such as Lamb, Zero7, Morcheeba, and Attica Blues can be cited as influences.
In 2002, the trio recorded a demo with three tracks: “End Adjourn”, “Full (with Such Bliss)”, and “Purple Eye”. The track “End Adjourn” was included in the compilation “Pop Up Songs” the same year. Later, they participated in compilations such as “Divergências.com” (2004) and “Chaise Longue” (2005), released by Música Alternativa.
Live, the group presented themselves as a quintet, with Carlos Santos (drums) and Bruno Macedo (bass) joining the original trio. 3Angle also had the opportunity to perform at festivals such as Vilar de Mouros and Valada do Tejo, and received some exposure on Antena 3 playlists.
In an attempt to consolidate their work, the collective went into the studio in 2008 to record their first full-length album. However, this project was never completed.
Despite not releasing a complete album, 3Angle left a mark on the Portuguese music scene, demonstrating their ability to create innovative and eclectic music.
