Born in 1966, Tó Trips, guitarist of Dead Combo, has built a singular path in Portuguese music. Before the duo that brought him wider recognition, he played in bands such as Amen Sacristi, Santa Maria Gasolina em Teu Ventre and Lulu Blind. In 2009, he embarked on a solo career marked by intimacy, debuting with an album dedicated to his wife.
The record Guitarra 66 reflects that personal and artistic journey. A solo classical guitar work, it draws strong inspiration from Carlos Paredes — a figure whom Tó Trips describes as “the Portuguese sonic identity card,” now being rediscovered by younger generations.
In these compositions, the musician blends memories and geographies: a “romantic, Mediterranean album with Portuguese roots,” yet also Iberian and Atlantic, evoking African deserts, Latino neighborhoods in the United States, and southern seas.
Mastering was handled by renowned sound engineer António Pinheiro da Silva, who has worked with artists such as António Variações, GNR, Sétima Legião and A Naifa.
