After a long period without creating new music, Ecos da Cave return with a new single. “Ser Vivo” is a hymn to life that we proclaim and a call to belief – not as an act of faith, but as an energy that travels within each of us, flows through the natural elements, and transforms into empathy with others.
“Ser Vivo” is life being celebrated. It is the return to wholeness after awakening from a coma. It is the felt pulse of life being reclaimed, even when aggression or oppression deny another the right to live. It is life requested for every living being as a rightful good, or the end of life accepted as a natural condition – and only in that finitude can it be understood and, even so, celebrated.
“Ser Vivo” is also a manifesto about the right to be and to exist in the most basic sense of every being, without suffering abuse from those who, shamelessly, trample upon the natural habitat of all.
Biography
Ecos da Cave were formed in Santo Tirso in 1987. In the band’s history, in addition to their extensive list of concerts, one highlight was their participation in the 5th Rock Rendez-Vous Contest in 1988, where they reached the semi-finals with the song “Desejo”, recorded and produced by Zé Nabo.
Their first and only LP, “As Papoilas do Campo Estéril”, was released in October 1991 by El Tatu.
Between 1992 and 1994, they took part in the first editions of several festivals, such as Festival Paredes de Coura, Ermal, and Noites Ritual Rock, among others.
After a break of about 23 years, in 2017 they were invited by the Municipality of Santo Tirso to perform a concert celebrating the 30th anniversary of their formation. The show turned into an epic night, which led the band members to decide to keep celebrating and performing.
To mark that comeback, in 2017 the group released “87/2017”, a compilation of some previously released tracks along with new ones, such as “Com o Álcool” and a cover of Zeca Afonso’s “Vejam Bem”. A commemorative book celebrating their 30th anniversary was also produced, which included the recording of the 2017 concert.
Currently, they remain active with the original line-up, performing occasional concerts, as well as releasing a new track: “Ser Vivo”.
“Ser Vivo” is life being celebrated. It is the return to wholeness after awakening from a coma. It is the felt pulse of life being reclaimed, even when aggression or oppression denies another the right to live. It is life invoked for every living being as a rightful good, or the end of life accepted as a natural condition – and only in that finitude can it be understood, and still be celebrated.
“Ser Vivo” is also a manifesto on the right to be and to exist in the most basic sense of every being, without suffering the abuse of those who, without shame, trample on the natural habitat of all.
