IRIS – Rock Band

The first single “Por Ti, Já Não Sei” was extracted from this CD, with lyrics by Salsicha and music by Domingos Caetano, which quickly reached the national charts.

It is at this time that the band comes of age. The electric versions of themes from traditional Portuguese music and the original themes, all of them full of determination and the usual irony, which has become a hallmark of the band, lead to the best reviews from the public. Their live shows are a mix of emotion, vivacity and energy, Domingos Caetano proves to be a “front-men” par excellence and the band, by always giving “everything for everything”, is invited to perform in more and more places, many of them where they had passed before.

In mid-September of that year, Ray and João Ruano left the band, the first being replaced by Cláudio on the acoustic guitar and the second by the young David on the keys, Max remaining in charge of the electric guitar, thus continuing his presence in the group.

In March 2001, IRIS brought its 4th CD, produced by João Paulo Nunes and Domingos Caetano, the Algarve was again chosen to record, this time at the Sueste Records studios in Fuzeta.

This new CD entitled “Tá o Mar Fête Num Cão”, was created as a retrospective work of the Algarve band’s record career, being presented in the form of a double CD and which had as its 1st single and release song, the theme “Vamos Além ” free version with arrangements by Domingos Caetano, of the original music of the Portuguese Pop music myth, António Variações.

On CD n.1 of this work there is a selection of the best songs previously edited by the band, this time with new mixes and masterings, along with 2 unpublished songs “Logo à Tarde”, lyrics by Diogo Noronha and music by Domingos Caetano and a 2nd unreleased, “Alma Gémea”, with lyrics by Pedro Freitas Branco and music by Domingos Caetano.

CD n.2 has a set of 8 live songs, whose recordings were made by the band over the years, which were recovered, mixed and mastered for this edition.

In addition to the audio tracks, CD n.2 also includes a CD-ROM track, produced by Vertente Produções in Faro, where all the band’s video clips can be viewed, some of which had never been seen by the general public. , this in addition to many surprises and the very good mood with which the band has already so accustomed its audience.

On this CD-ROM you can also find two extra songs, “O Dom Da Vida” lyrics by Sal Bonner and music by Domingos Caetano, included in the compilation “Outros Destinos” edited by “Direção Regional do Algarve – SPTT” and “Comisionado para la Droga de Junta de Andalusia”, sponsored by the INTERREG 2 project; and also “As Loucuras Da Deputada” instrumental by Domingos Caetano, the latter recorded especially for the compilation “Guitarristas”, which in 1998 was edited by Música Alternativa and which all of them can only be heard by those who run the CD on the computer.

It is at this time (2001/2002) that IRIS promotes a major renovation in its cast. Thus, in addition to the already known David Fernandes on keys and Cláudio Martins on acoustic guitar and accordion, there is a new group of musicians in the band who replace Thierry, Chico and Max. They are Chico Cardoso on drums, Cláudio Barras on bass and Virgílio Silva on electric guitar. It is with these musicians that the band starts another national tour that takes them to many places in the country.

At the end of June 2003, the young Bruno Gonçalves became part of the band, replacing David Fernandes on keyboards who had left in the meantime.

The 5th album by the band IRIS was released on the 14th of November. Once again this new CD will bring Rock melodies, original songs and above all the quality and good mood that has characterized the work of IRIS.
