The song was recorded as part of the sessions for the band’s unreleased EP Tea Time In A Mouldy Cave. Ten years later, The Mouldy Cave Society are gradually revisiting these recordings through The Cave Archive.
“Jake, The Snake” tells a darkly comic story about a ruthless Welsh pirate and outlaw. The song also became a live favourite, with audiences singing, dancing and jumping along to its chorus.
The track had its first radio play on Sete Mares Som Nacional, on Antena Minho, on 19 September, ahead of its official release.

Musical Style & Name Origin
Drawing from Hard Rock, Blues Rock, and Alternative Rock, the band built its identity around energetic guitar-driven songs, driving rhythms, and raspy, gritty vocals, with a darker and more irreverent approach to rock.
Their name derives from the band’s origins in a dirty, mouldy garage, where the first ideas and recordings took shape.
Studio Sessions & Releases
- 2016 (Noise Magnet Studio, Guimarães): Recorded six songs. Some of these recordings remained unreleased for years and are now being revisited through The Cave Archive.
- 2022: The first glimpse of this material reached the public with “Stop Marching”, a song written as a protest against war and a plea for peace.
- 2026: Began revisiting early recordings from the Tea Time In A Mouldy Cave sessions through The Cave Archive, recovering and sharing music from those formative years.
- “Jake, The Snake”: Recorded in 2016 and released ten years later in 2026. A lively, darkly comic rock song about a ruthless Welsh pirate and outlaw, it reflects the band’s more playful and irreverent side while preserving the character of the original recording.
The Mouldy Cave Society are now looking to bring their mouldy rock to audiences beyond Portugal.
