Orelha Negra

Orelha Negra is a Portuguese band formed by DJ Cruzfader (mixing and scratching desk), Francisco Rebelo (bass), Fred Ferreira (drums), João Gomes (keys and synthesizers) and Sam The Kid (MPC, programming and synthesizers).

Linked to hip hop, they incorporate various elements of black music, such as jazz, soul and funk, into their compositions. They have been together since 2010, having released three instrumental studio albums and two collaborative mixtapes. In 2013, they were nominated in the Best Group category at the SIC Golden Globes.

His second self-titled album (2012) was considered the fourth best album of the year by Blitz. The third album reached #1 on the national album sales chart in 2017.

The band debuted live in 2010, with a show at Musicbox, in Lisbon. The following year, they performed at the Optimus Alive festival – a show that was later made available for free download via the band’s Facebook page. In 2013, they performed at the MEO Sudoeste festival together with the West European Symphony Orchestra and guests, which included Carlos Nobre (Da Weasel), Mónica Ferraz, Orlando Santos and Valete.
